Headache symptoms that suggest a serious Underlying Disorder

  • Sudden-onset
  • First severe headache
  • Vomiting that precedes headache
  • Sub acute worsening over days or weeks
  • Onset after age 55
  • Fever or unexplained systemic signs
  • Abnormal neurologic examination
  • Pain associated with local tenderness
  • Severe Fever

Primary and Secondary headaches

Primary Headache: This is the dysfunction or an over-activity of the pain-sensitive features in the head cause primary headaches.

Note: It is not a symptom of or even caused by any underlying medical condition.

Some people might have the genes that make it even more likely to develop the primary headaches.

While, the Secondary Headache: Is generally with an underlying condition and sign and symptoms of another disease.

Example- due to dehydration, sinus, medication overuse, spinal headaches, thunderclap headache
