Minimal residual disease (MRD) is the glimmers of cells of cancer that stay in the body after the treatment. These cells are so small or have no physical signs and symptoms that and often cannot even be detected under the microscope or by detecting abnormal serum proteins in the blood.
An MRD test investigates the remaining disease in the body after the treatment. A positive test of MRD shows that the bacteria of the past illness are still present in the body.
