IHC - Cluster of Differentiation 117 (CD117) Test Cost & Procedure

The cluster of differentiation (CD) molecules are markers of the surface of a cell that helps to investigate:

• The Form of the cell,
• Differentiating stage
• The way a cell is acting.

Specific hematopoietic progenitors can be located in the bone marrow using CD117. Hematopoietic stem cells, multipotent progenitors, and common myeloid progenitors all have high amounts of CD117. Thymocyte progenitors are also visible by CD117 in the thymus. DN2 thymocytes and early T lineage progenitors express high quantities of CD117. Additionally, it may be a sign of mast cells, mouse prostate stem cells, melanocytes in the skin, and Cajal interstitial cells in the digestive tract.

CD117 Test Applications

If the criteria given are found for the Unisex gender and all age groups, the result for CD 117 is often positive. The results will confirm the presence of a gastrointestinal stromal tumor and will be helpful during treatment. Results from CD117 tests can also help with mast cell tumor diagnosis and help distinguish seminomas from embryonal carcinomas.

Preparation for this test

The only required attire for the allergy panel test is a short-sleeved shirt or one with sleeves that are simple to roll up. You don't need to change your diet. Regular eating and drinking are permitted. However, your doctor could insist that you fast before the test for a set period. If extra testing is conducted on the blood sample, this is done. Procedure
