What is an X-ray Sacrum and Coccyx (LAT view) test?

X-ray Coccyx LAT View shows the spine's distal portion lateralized. It shows sacrum and coccyx anatomy and investigates coccyx discomfort. The coccyx, or tailbone, is a tiny, triangular bone at the base of the spine. It has 3–5 spinal bones.

Why is it done? 

• To determine the reason for persistent pain in the coccyx.

• To search for a coccyx injury or fracture (tailbone),

• To identify any suspected spinal tumors (abnormal growth), infections, or congenital problems.

What is the sacrum and coccyx (LAT view) radiograph test procedure?

The X-Ray technician will explain. 

How does one prepare for the test? 

• Wear loose-fitting clothing. No preparation is needed.
• If you are pregnant, notify your technician, as radiation may harm the baby.
