Why is it done?

Body) identifies accidentally ingested external objects such as chicken or fish bones, buttons, marbles, screws, button batteries, and straight pins in children, as well as the location of swallowed fish bones, coins, fruit pits, straight pins, and dentures in adults, as well as a blockage caused by external objects in the upper gastrointestinal tract, which can lead to upper G.I. infections.
