The wrist bones (carpal bones), the bones between the wrist bones and the fingers (metacarpal bones), and the fingers make up the hand (phalanges). It is advised to treat hand symptoms such as discomfort, soreness, and swelling.

Why is it done? 

This test assists in the detection of infections, bone cysts, tumors, fractures, and osteomyelitis in the hand bones. It is also indicated before surgery to assess bone alignment after surgery or as part of bone-age research.
