What is an X-ray Left Finger AP/Lateral Test?

Finger X-ray Doctors prescribe AP and LAT on the left side to determine the source of finger discomfort, soreness, swelling, or deformity. The LAT view shows the finger in the lateral position. The AP (or anteroposterior) view shows the beams passing from front to back. The AP view is used to determine which finger is being photographed with respect to neighboring fingers in the field of vision.

Why is it done? 

• To diagnose finger fractures and monitor healing following setting.
• To identify infections, osteoporosis, bone abnormalities, and arthritis (inflammation of joints).
