The X-ray Chest Left LAT Decubitus View is a test that shows the collar bone, breastbone, ribs, shoulder blade, and muscles around the shoulder blade. It also helps to imagine the lungs, airways, heart, food pipe, and diaphragm inside the chest.

Why is it done? 

• Diagnose chest wall fractures (including the collar bone, breastbone, ribs, and shoulder blade).
• To identify lung infections, tumors, or pneumothorax (the presence of air between the lungs and chest wall).
• To identify heart issues such as hypertrophy, fluid surrounding the heart, or valve problems.
• To identify esophageal infections, inflammations, or abnormal growth.
• Diagnosing diaphragm perforation (by the presence of free air in the chest)
• To identify chest wall or organ birth defects.
