What is an X-ray Cervical AP, LAT, and Both Oblique Test?

X-ray Cervical Spine AP, LAT, and both oblique tests to see the first seven vertebrae (C1–C7) of the spinal column (backbone) in the neck area. It also helps them see their intervertebral discs and the skin, muscles, and other soft tissues around them.

Why is it done? 

The doctor orders this test to find out what's causing neck or upper back pain that lasts for a long time, check for any injuries or breaks in the spinal bones, and figure out if there are any suspected spine tumours or infections.

How does one prepare for the test? 

• Before the X-ray, you might be asked to go to the bathroom and empty your bladder. You should wear loose-fitting clothing.
