Ultrasound Guided Aspiration

Ultrasound-guided surgery Fine needle aspiration is a diagnostic process in which a tiny needle is inserted into a suspected lump to collect some cells, which are subsequently examined under a microscope, to rule out cancer.

Why is it done? 

It can be used to aspirate cysts in the breast, thyroid, lymph nodes, liver, and lungs. The procedure does not include ionising radiation, has no known side effects, and provides a clear view of soft tissues, which are difficult to notice on x-ray images.

No preparation is needed. You should wear loose-fitting clothing.
