FAQ

If the results of your Typhidot Test are considered to be positive, it would indicate that person is suffering from an infection of Salmonella species. If the IgG and the IgM are present in your typhoid test, it would also indicate an acute typhoid fever. If only the IgM is present, it could also indicate that the patient has an acute typhoid fever.

The Typhidot Rapid IgG/IgM is the combination test or (Combo), which is an indirect solid-phase of the immunochromatographic assay. The specific S. typhi OMP antigen is also immobilized onto the cellulose nitrate membrane along the lines. When this test sample is further added to your sample pad, it would further migrate upwards.

In the 94 evaluable patients, according to the research studies and scientific paper, there were 28% were the dot EIA IgM positive but also the IgG negative on admission, while the other 50% were both the IgM and IgG positive, and around 22% of them were IgM negative and also IgG positive. The Mean persistence of the IgM dot EIA positivity was around 2.6 months (95% confidence interval = 2.0-3.1 months) and that of IgG was 5.4 months (4.5-6.3 months).

The Typhoid fever is seen to last between seven to about 10 days when treated soon after the onset of symptoms. If it is left untreated or incase the treatment begins later, it could last for another three weeks or even longer. In case of the complications or any relapse, it could take a longer time than that to even fully recover.

The different symptoms seen are as follows:

  • Weakness
  • Stomach Pain
  • Headache
  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation
  • Loss Of Appetite
  • Cough

The Typhoid fever could usually be treated successfully with the definitive course of the antibiotic medicine. The infection would be treated at your home, but hospitalization is required if admitted in the hospital and if it's severe.

There is in general, there is no specific treatment to further correct the low IgM levels; however, if you have individuals who suffer from this condition and also when you could have impaired responses to the vaccine antigens, particularly in the pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccines, along with requiring the immunoglobulin (IG) replacement therapy.
