The imaging process known as MRA (magnetic resonance angiography for brain) evaluates the brain to look for any abnormalities while concentrating on its blood arteries. The blood arteries are shown in three-dimensional pictures using an MRA of the brain. MRA is mainly used to identify artery narrowing and rule out aneurysms.

Why is MRA Brain Done?

  • Detect atherosclerosis or plaque disease which may limit blood flow to the brain and cause a stroke.
  • Identify arteriovenous malformation (an abnormal connection between arteries and inside the brain.
  • Evaluate arteries before the surgical or therapeutic procedure
  • Evaluate obstructions of vessels.
  • Screening for arterial disease, especially patients with a family history of it.
