Scarlet fever is a bacterial infection. It is produced by group A Streptococcus bacteria. It is characterized by a bright red rash, high fever, and sore throat.
Symptoms of scarlet fever can include a sore throat, fever, headache, and a red rash that starts on the chest and abdomen and spreads to other parts of the body, such as the arms, legs, and face. The rash may feel like sandpaper and may be accompanied by a white coating on the tongue, which later peels off and appears bright red.
Scarlet fever is highly contagious and is spread through respiratory droplets from infected individuals. It is most commonly affecting the children of age group of 5 and 15.
