This test estimates the levels of Regulatory T cells in the body.

Flow Cytometry is used for this test.

Regulatory T cells:

They are a type of T-cells produced by the body.

They maintain two main functions:

• Homeostasis
• Self Tolerance

This is done by suppressing the immune system of the body. They help in the resistivity of autoimmunity.

They play a vital role in preventing autoimmune diseases and help to fight against any infection.

When your body tends to overreact to an antigen, Tregs help the immune system cope and prevent this response. They also produce antibodies.

What are Antigens?

This is used for the detection of Tregs. It is a laser technique that helps in investigating the chemical and physical features of cells.

Procedure:

• The cells that are investigated are put in the fluid, and then it is treated with special dyes.

• Graphical data is made then.
