NCV Lower Limbs (Nerve conduction velocity for lower limbs) is a test that is used to measure the electrical impulse speed through the legs' nerves to detect any nerve damage. This test helps to find out the existence of diseases, their location, and the extent of diseases that cause damage to the nerves.

Why is NCV Lower Limbs Done?

This test is advised by the doctor to find out the existence, location, and extent of the disease that causes nerve damage. It is helpful in finding the cause of symptoms such as numbness, tingling, and burning sensations in body parts. To check the muscle's function in response to nerve stimulus, NCV is performed with EMG.

What is the procedure for NCV Lower Limbs?

Preparation

1. Before the procedure, remove all types of metallic objects, such as jewelry, spectacles, dentures, and hairpins to prevent them from interfering with the procedure.

2.  For a few days before the test, don’t apply any kind of oil, or lotion to your body.

After Care

No care is required after the test, you can continue your daily routine after the test. If you require any special instruction, then the doctor will guide you.
