MR Venography Brain With Contrast

While doing magnetic resonance venography (MRV) to get clarity of images the contrast is injected into the brain.

Why done?

MRV with contrast dye makes the blood vessels seem dense on the X-ray picture, helping the doctor to see the blood vessels under examination.

Procedure

In the MRV process the combination of large magnets and radio waves are utilized creating the imaging. To get more depth and clarity of the images a intravenous contrast dye is injected during the scan.

How to prepare for the test?

While having contrast with MRV you need to observe fasting for nearly 4-5 hours prior of scanning. You need to check with your doctor if you have issues with the contrast. Need to change into a hospital gown. No metal and electronic devices are allowed.

After Care:
