If the doctor feels anything is wrong in the abdomen but can't tell by physical exam, an MRI may be ordered. This examination examines blood flow, blood arteries, discomfort or swelling, lymph nodes, and malignancies. To check for stomach, kidney, liver, pancreatic, or spleen masses or enlargements.

How does one prepare for the test? 

• Notify your technician of metallic implants such as surgical staples, clips, or pacemakers. You may also need to remove metal objects such as jewellery or watches.
• If you are pregnant, notify your technician, as radiation may harm the baby.
• Before the procedure, check blood urea and creatinine to assess renal function and contrast safety.
