A qualified professional (sonographer) presses a compact, hand-held instrument (transducer) to the upper abdomen region being investigated and moves it as needed to acquire pictures. The transducer emits sound waves into your abdomen, captures those that reflect back, and transmits them to a computer which generates the visuals.

How to prepare for the test?

You need to observe fasting for nearly 6-8 hours prior to your screening of the upper abdomen. If you are under medication talk to your doctor before taking it prior to screening.
