MRI Screen Fistulography

MRI Screen Fistulography is an x-ray procedure to check your fistula for abnormal passages between the body parts that drain out of your skin.

Why done?

MRI fistulography has been a valuable and suggested screening tool in pathology due to its efficacy in assessing perianal fistulous tracts in soft tissues. 

Procedure

The doctor uses a tiny catheter in your fistula graft then contrast is injected into the tube to get detailed images.  MRI for Fistulogram is an imaging system used to develop a view of the sphincter muscles, the anal canal, and the soft tissues around it. 

How one is prepared for the test?

You need to fast from midnight before the session of fistulography. You need to change into a hospital gown before the MRI scan. No metal accessories are allowed during the scan.

• Doctor's prescription slip
• Documents related to medical history
• Any valid ID proof for verification

Aftercare: 

Once the scan is done you need to wait for your reports. You can resume normal life after your scan. If any emergency rises contact your doctor after your scans. Ask doctor to remove catheter and drink a lot of water to flush residue of nuclear material. Also maintain safe distance from children and ladies for 4-5 days.
