MRI Prostate

MRI Prostate is a magnetic resonance imaging test in which a magnetic field, radiofrequency pulses, and a computer is used. Doctors use this diagnosis mainly to evaluate the extent of prostate cancer.

Why done?

MRI prostate is conducted primarily to examine prostate cancer. Doctors use this diagnosis to-identify suspected prostate cancer, see its spread monitor any change look for treatment complications study the treatment’s effectiveness see if the cancer has returned.

Procedure

During a prostate MRI, you will be positioned on an examination table that is then slid into the MRI machine. The machine uses magnetic waves to take detailed images of the inside of your body. The procedure is completely painless and non-invasive, and it takes about 30-45 minutes to complete. 

How does one prepare for test?

There is no specific preparation rule for the test. You are advised to take your regular medications and eat and drink as normal. However, some radiology practices might ask you to follow a liquid diet for 24 hours before the MRI scan.

If you have any metal implants like artificial joints, or electronic devices, such as pacemakers, inside you, you should immediately inform your radiologist about the same as soon as possible.

After care

Collect report and reach your doctor for next stage treatment. Talk to the radiologist if face any kind of problem after leaving the machine.
