MRI Pelvis

MRI PELVIS is an imaging test that uses magnetic fields, radio waves, and a computer to produce detailed images of the pelvic area, i.e., the area between the hip bones. 

Why done? 

MRI PELVIS is performed to detect the prostate, uterus, ovaries, anus, and rectum issues. It is also performed when patients complain of pain in the pelvic or abdominal area. It can also analyze congenital disabilities if any. 

Procedure

The patient is asked to lie on the table, which slides into the machine. Next, tiny coils are placed on the pelvic area that helps the computer scan images of the site using radio waves and magnetic field energy. 

How does one prepare for the test? 

It is advised to notify the doctor of the presence of any metal in your body so that the doctor can suggest the right way. If not, food and medication can be followed, as usual, depending on the guidelines provided by the doctor.

Aftercare 

There are no side effects of the test, and you may resume activities and tasks as usual. However, inform your doctor if you feel any discomfort or side effects. If there are any sedatives, wait till the effect wears itself out.
