MRI Myelography

Myelography is an imaging test that involves putting a spinal needle into the spinal canal and injecting contrast material into the subarachnoid space. This is done to get a clear picture of the spinal cord, nerve roots, subarachnoid area, and spinal column.

Why is it done? 

Myelography detects abnormalities in the spinal cord, spinal canal, spinal nerve roots, and spinal cord blood vessels.

What is the procedure for the Myelography MR Screening Test?

The MR radiologist will explain. 

How does one prepare for the test? 

* Notify your technician of metallic implants such as surgical staples, clips, or pacemakers. You may also need to remove metal objects such as jewellery or watches.
* If you are pregnant, notify your technician, as radiation may harm the baby.
