Liver Fibrosis Panel Cost & Procedure

This test is used to detect liver fibrosis. It is used more frequently these days as compared to a biopsy.

Components included in this test:

• Prothrombin Time
• Total Alkaline Phosphatase
• SGOT
• GGTP
• SGPT
• Bilirubin
• Protein electrophoresis

But ultimately, the confirmatory test for detecting liver fibrosis is Biopsy only.

Liver Fibrosis:

When the liver cells are damaged and scarred, this condition is marked by a decreased liver activity called liver fibrosis. If this persists for a long time, it can also cause liver cirrhosis. Medicines and lifestyle modifications can treat it.

• F0: No fibrosis
• F1: fibrosis without septa
• F2: Fibrosis with septa
• F3: septa with fibrosis
• F4: Cirrhosis

Why is this test advised?

They are chosen for diagnosis of liver fibrosis over biopsies as the biopsy is costly and painful. Therefore, painless, non-invasive methods are used these days.
