What is a USG Level II Study Scan Test?

The USG Level II examination or TIFFA scan commonly known as Fetal anomaly scan.  (18-22 weeks) is performed to get detailed anatomical information regarding the baby's growth and development. This scan is conducted  to detect the congenital abnormalities.

Why is it Done?

This test is indicated for pregnant women whose babies may have birth defects based on routine ultrasound results. Level 2 ultrasound detects foetal abnormalities as well as amount of amniotic fluid and length of the cervix and placenta.

It is a critical test for diagnosing congenital anomalies in the foetus and for assessing the growth and well-being of the foetus.

What is the Procedure for the USG Level 2 Test or TIFFA Scan?

The Level 2 Ultrasound process is comparable to other pregnancy ultrasound procedures.

Ultrasound level 2 include the following steps:-

  • The sonographer applies the gel to the lower abdomen and moves the transducer over the skin.
  • The image of the developing child will typically appear on the screen after the transducer is simply moved over the skin to complete the scan.
  • It measures how long the baby's neck fluid is. Under the skin, it appears as a black fluid.
  • The images displayed on the screen are sufficient to detect the notable deviations in the developing baby

How Does One Prepare for the Test?

The ultrasonography test doesn't require any extra preparation. Before the test, some doctors ask you to consume four to six glasses of water to ensure your bladder is full. This will improve the ultrasound image that the doctor sees of the baby. Urinating will not be permitted until after the test.

Before the scan, wear comfortable clothes.

After Care:

The sonographer cleaned the ultrasound gel with a clean towel. No special care is needed after the scan.
