Immunoglobulin IgG Subclasses Test Cost & Procedure

This test is performed to check the deficiency of IgG in the blood. It is a standard laboratory Test. It is done in patients having immunodeficiency but normal levels of IgG.

What are Immunoglobulins?

These are glycoproteins produced by blood cells in answer to an allergen.

It has two types of chains

• Heavy chain
• Light Chain

It has delta-heavy chains and is found on the B Cells' surfaces.

Types of immunoglobulin

The following are the types of immunoglobulins

IgD:

• Present only in traces
• It helps in fighting against allergies.

IgG:

• Protects against bacteria and virus

IgE :

• Found in traces but can increase allergies.

IgA:

• Found in the respiratory tract lining.

IgM:

• Found in lymph nodes and blood

The subclasses of IgG are:

• IgG-1
• IgG-2
• IgG-3
• IgG-4

Why is this test recommended?

The levels of IgG are decreased in the condition of hypogammaglobulinemia.

• If IgG -1 is low: The patient is a severe deficiency

• If IgG-2 is quiet: It leads to otitis, pulmonary Infections and sinusitis.

Disorders caused due to deficiency of IgG:

>> Asthma:

It is a lung disorder. It affects the airway passage of the body. Airways are swelled up in this condition.

Symptoms:

• Wheezing
• Dry Cough
• Tightness in chest
• Tiredness
• Dark circles below the eyes
• Trouble in eating
• Breathing problems

Sinopulmonary Infections

It is an infection that includes the paranasal sinuses and obstructs the airway passages. It is due to swelling of the airway passages. It is an association between asthma and sinus infections.

Requirements for the test

No special preparation is needed. It's a routine blood test.

The procedure of this test

In the case of a blood sample

• A needle is pricked into the arm
• The blood is withdrawn.

In the case of cerebrospinal Fluid

• First, the site is anesthetised.
• The needle is inserted in vertebrae
• The CSF is excavated from it.
