Ganglioside (GM1) IgG Antibody Panel Test Cost & Procedure

A ganglioside is a glycosphingolipid molecule with n-acetylneuraminic acid (NANA) or another sialic acid connected to the sugar chain. German scientist Ernst Klenk gave lipids recently obtained from brain ganglion cells named ganglioside for the first time in 1942. It is known that there are more than 60 gangliosides, which vary from one another primarily in the location and quantity of NANA residues. It appears to be concentrated in lipid rafts and is a part of the cell plasma membrane that regulates cell signal transduction activities.

Use:

Galactosemia is an autosomal recessive disorder that results from a deficiency of one of these enzymes (GALE).

The most frequent cause of galactosemia, or classic galactosemia, is a gallant deficiency. If untreated, a total or nearly complete lack of the Galt enzyme poses a severe risk to life. Failure to thrive, liver failure, sepsis, and death are among the neonatal period complications. Even in cases of survival, long-term intellectual disability can happen. A diet low in galactose is used to treat galactosemia, which allows for quick relief from acute symptoms and a generally positive outlook.
