What causes endometritis?

Infection is typically the cause of endometritis. Endometritis may result from the following infections:

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including chlamydia, gonorrhoea, and TB infections, are brought on by a combination of the natural bacteria in the vagina.

Every woman has a typical combination of microorganisms in her vagina. Endometritis can develop when this balanced bacterial population alters due to a life event.

Risk signs of endometritis:

  • After a loss or childbirth, particularly after a protracted labour or a caesarean delivery, you risk contracting an infection that can result in endometritis.
  • Moreover, endometritis is more likely to develop following an operation that includes entering the uterus through the cervix.
  • The following medical treatments can raise your risk of getting endometritis: Intrauterine device (IUD) implantation by hysteroscopy, together with dilatation and curettage (uterine scraping).

What signs or symptoms indicate endometritis?

Symptoms of endometritis typically include Pelvic, lower abdominal, or rectal pain, abnormal vaginal bleeding, abnormal vaginal discharge, constipation, discomfort during bowel movements, fever, and an overall sense of sickness.

When are tests for AFB performed?

  • When someone displays symptoms of tuberculosis, such as a persistent cough, weight loss, fever (an increase in temperature in the evening), chills, a loss of appetite, swollen lymph nodes, and weakness.
  • TB screening test results, as well as an assessment of how well the treatment is functioning.

The steps involved are:

1. Apply a smear of the specimen culture to a clean, sterile microscope slide, and then heat fix it over blue heat.

2. Flood the smear with carbon Fuschia and pour it on top. Then, slowly heat it until fumes start to appear.

3. After letting it sit for five minutes, gently rinse it with the faucet's running water.

4. Include 20% sulfuric acid and wait one or two minutes. 5. To wash the acid away, use water.

6. Apply methylene blue dye to the stain, let it for a few minutes, and then wash it with water.

7. Allow the stain to dry completely before inspecting it with an oil immersion lens.
