"Downers," "benzos," "nerve pills," "candy," also "tranks" 

This Diazepam test is very sensitive as includes benzodiazepines testing in the body. It should only be carried out post instructions from the doctor or the concerned healthcare professional.

Why is Diazepam used?

In an appropriately subgroup of selected patients, diazepam has proven to be effective in the treating generalized anxiety disorder and also panic disorder. The administration of valium prior to surgical intervention such as endoscopy or cardio version also reduces anxiety. 

Preoperative use of Valium in general alleviates the anxiety of the patient and the tension experienced by the patient, it also causes anterograde amnesia.

Valium Half- Life

It has been seen that Valium usually has a long elimination life (Half Life) - i.e. the amount of time, it would usually take for a substance to exit the system.

There are a number of factors that valium half depends on. This period in general, lasts from 30 to 56 hours.

Scientifically: It is seen as a major metabolite of clorazepate and prazepam. The minor active metabolites of the drug diazepam are temazepam (3-hydroxydiazepam) and also oxazepam i.e. (3-hydroxy-N-diazepam).

 It is important to understand that the use of diazepam may also exhibit synergism with other drugs such as - barbiturates, tricyclic antidepressants, along with  amine oxidase inhibitors.
