What Are Chlamydia Trachomatis and Neisseria Gonorrhoeae?

Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae are bacteria (microorganisms) that are linked with sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)/ sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Chlamydia trachomatis causes Chlamydia and Neisseria gonorrhoeae causes Gonorrhea. These are the two most common sexually transmitted diseases.

What is CT/NG Qualitative PCR?

Chlamydia and Gonorrhea infections can be detected by Real Time PCR. CT/NG Qualitative PCR detects presence of Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae in various samples, such as, urine, vaginal swab, urethral swab, and eye swab.

Collection of sample – 

Sample can be collected by a healthcare professional or by the patient. Following samples are generally collected for CT/NG RT-PCR:
