MRI Coronary Angiography

MRI Coronary Angiography is a test to find out if there is any blockage in your coronary artery. It is a through which dynamic x-ray pictures of your heart is taken to see your heart's blood vessels.

Why done?

The MRI Coronary Angiography test is usually done to examine if there's a restraint in blood flow going to the heart. The test helps to diagnose heart conditions, plan future treatments and carry out further procedures.

Procedure

A cardiologist will insert a thin, flexible tube known as catheter into an artery in the groin, arm or neck and threaded through the blood vessels to the heart. It will show if there is any blockage. 

How does one prepare for test?

Your doctor will advise you not to eat or drink anything after midnight before your angiogram. You should take all your medications to the hospital. If you are diabetic, ask your doctor before you take any medicine.

After care

After the MRI Coronary Angiography, catheter will be removed however you may have a bruise on your groin or arm and feel sore for a day or two. You are instructed to do light activities but nothing strenuous for several days.
