Fungal cultures are a type of microbiology laboratory test that can be used to identify the presence of fungi in samples taken from people, animals, and the environment. The laboratory attempts to locate or remove impurities while using ideal circumstances to recognise and grow any fungus in the samples. To gauge the extent of fungal development in the bronchial washings, a fungal culture test is run on a sample. The test is also carried out during and after managing immunosuppressive disorders and lung fungal infections.
The doctor will run a blood test and x-rays before performing a fungal culture test. You must fast for 6–12 hours before the fungal culture–bronchial washing test. On the test day, you are also requested not to consume any liquids. Before the test, you should also let the doctor know if you are taking any drugs.
