What to Expect in the Examination Room?
Preparation: It uses a strong magnet so watches and jewellery must be removed prior to the use of the machine. It is likely that you will have to change into a comfortable medical gown.
The Process: You will lie back, possibly asleep, on a slidable table with a cushion on it, without any discomfort. Next, the special receiver coil will be carefully positioned around the elbow to obtain the best image and the table will slowly roll into the scanner. All you need to do is be totally motionless.
Noisy: The scanner makes noise e.g. tapping, whirring. Ear plugs for noise reduction will be provided by the technician, if necessary.
