MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging, it is a painless, effective, safe and accurate diagnostic tool. It is a diagnostic tool which uses non-ionising radiations unlike CT scan, PET scan or X-rays. While It is capable of defining single body areas such as spine, liver or brain, it is also effective in scanning Full Body MRI for physical abnormalities, tumours in the earliest stages of formation, or simply an overall snapshot of one's general health.

Why to OPT for Full Body MRI?

While offering a painless and non-invasive procedure, its main advantage is that it uses non-ionising X Ray technique. Some other benefits are as below-

Non-Invasive

Modern MRI technology can provide similar results as what biopsies can offer. Adding its non invasive procedures with whole body MRI.

No Radiation

CT scanning and other X Ray techniques have undoubtedly saved many lives in history but the amount of radiation that they expose a patient to is higher as compared to the modern technology MR imaging technique which uses less amount of radiation in already vulnerable patients. This technique eliminates unnecessary stress of radiation exposure- MRI is virtually free of ionising radiation, making it a go-to choice of anyone already undergoing radiation therapy

Catch it early

Cancers that are caught in their early stages i.e.- stage 1 and stage 2 have higher life expectancy rates than those catched in their later stages such as in stage 3 and stage 4. Full body diffusion MRI picks up tumours less than a centimetre in diameter, pinpointing cancer in its earliest stages. If cancer is in your family history, a full body MRI preventive screening test is the most powerful medical imaging tool available to you in the modern era.

Full Body MRI vs Regular MRI

Primary difference is in the imaging coverage: a full body MRI comprehensively reads the entire body, while regular MRI, often referred to as a targeted or specific MRI, usually scans a specific anatomical region of the body depending on the clinical requirement of the patient. Whereas regular MRIs are used for diagnostic purpose to address specific concerns, a full body MRI is an elective scan for preventive measures.

Uses of MRI?

A full body MRI scan can reveal and detect over many conditions and cancers at their earliest stages, some of them are as mentioned below-

This list is by no means exhaustive. The use of MRI technology is always in scope and use and has no limit.

What Happens During The MRI Scan?

When you are on the scanning table and inside the scanner, the MRI technician communicates with you via intercom facility to make sure that they are comfortable. They will not start the scan unless you are comfortable.

During the scanning, you need to stay still and stable. Any movement if made during the scan can hamper the quality of the scan, making the Scan Machine Images blurred and non yielding. This MRI scan machine usually makes loud noise during its operation so you are given earplugs or cuffs to minimise any ear damage. Depending upon the reason for the MRI, you might need to hold the breath while scanning.

If you feel any kind of discomfort during or before the scanning, you can talk to the technician via intercom facility.

What Happens After An MRI Scan?

After the MRI scan, the radiologist reads the MRI images for evaluating any abnormality if any. You are then free to go home

The radiologist prepares a report and sends it to your requesting doctor. You are asked to discuss the reports with your doctor. .

Summary

Full body MRI is a great diagnostic tool for determining any abnormality inside of your body, including cancers, heart abnormalities or any brain condition. MRI offers diagnosis at very early stages giving an edge over other diagnostic tools such as CT, PET etc.. It is highly necessary to get yourself diagnosed at right time and at right price.
