Unfortunately, along with this joy, also comes in a higher risk and exposure to various diseases causing microorganism.

Thus, higher levels of humidity and stagnant water increase the risk of infection, leading to higher illness and morbidity.

Dengue

Dengue is defined as a viral infection which is caused by the dengue virus (DENV); it is then transmitted to humans via bite of an infected Aedes mosquito.

 Moreover, it is seen that today, around half of the world’s population is at risk of dengue with an estimation of say 100–400 million infections that occur each year.

Symptoms of severe dengue

  1. Belly pain
  2. Tenderness
  3. Vomiting (at least 3 times in 24 hours)
  4. Bleeding from either nose or the gums
  5. Vomiting blood
  6. Presence of blood in the stool

Chikungunya

The Chikungunya virus is usually spread to humans by bite of an infected mosquito as well. It is a mosquito-borne viral disease and is caused by the Chikungunya virus (CHIKV), which is an RNA virus present in the alpha virus genus of family Togaviridae.

The Symptoms usually experienced in the starting 3–7 days right after an infected mosquito comes in contact with you.

Symptoms of Chikungunya:

  1. Fever
  2. Joint Pain

  5. Joint Swelling

Typhoid

The Typhoid fever is considered to be a life-threatening infection, which is caused by bacterium Salmonella Typhi. It is generally spread through either contaminated food or water. Once Salmonella Typhi bacteria are seen to be ingested, further multiply and enter the bloodstream.

Symptoms of typhoid fever:

  1. A Persistent high temperature
  2. Chills
  3. Headache
  4. General aches and pains.
  5. Extreme tiredness (fatigue)
  6. Cough
  7. Indigestion

Malaria

The Malaria disease is caused by a parasite P. falciparum, P. vivax, P. ovale and P malariae. The parasite then spreads to the humans via bite of an infected female Anopheles mosquito.

  4. Nausea and vomiting

Viral Fever

Conjunctivitis

The Pink eye is considered to be an inflammation of transparent membrane that within the lines of the eyelid and eyeball. This membrane is also known as the conjunctiva.

When the small blood vessels present in the conjunctiva become inflamed and infected, when irritated.

This makes the conjunctiva turn appear reddish or pink. Thus, the name -Pink eye also or conjunctivitis.

Symptoms of Conjunctivitis

  1. Redness seen in one or both the eyes.
  2. Itchiness that is [resent in one or both the eyes.
  3. A gritty feeling
  4. Teary discharge from the eyes followed by crusting
  5. Sensitivity to light, called photophobia

Amoebic Dysentery (Indigestion)

The bacteria-induced diarrhea might result in the following symptoms:

  2. Loose motions
  3. Nausea

  1. It is utmost important that mosquito nets and bug repellent machines are used at homes.
  2. Apply the mosquito repellent cream before you step outside home.
  3. Ensure that there has been no stagnant water both inside and also outside your home.
  4. Also maintain both your personal hygiene along with environmental hygiene.
  5. Make sure that you consume water after boiling and thoroughly wash fruits and vegetables prior to consumption.
  6. You can also get yourself screened and take a CBC test, which is considered to be the standard test for diagnosis of any monsoon related diseases.
