Bile Pigments

Bile pigments are greenish-yellow to yellow compounds produced in the liver due to haemoglobin breakdown. They're a significant element of bile, a fluid generated by the liver that breaks down fats into little globules to absorb them more quickly.

Bile pigments are divided into two categories:

• Bilirubin
• Urobilinogen
