ACL (Anti Cardiolipin antibodies) are antibodies produced against cardiolipins. The Anti Cardiolipin IgM Antibody test is used to detect the existence of these antibodies (the phospholipids responsible for blood clotting). ACL can cause blood clots to form in various bodily regions, including the arms, legs, heart, lungs, stomach, and kidney. ACL levels higher than average may indicate the presence of an autoimmune condition known as antiphospholipid syndrome (APS).
If you have irregular blood coagulation, strokes, heart attacks, or miscarriages, this test is done. Depending on the organ affected, APS can cause cardiovascular problems, strokes, renal failure, and lung damage.
The anti-cardiolipin IgM antibody test is done to detect the following:
• If a person has one or more inexplicable blood clots (thrombotic episodes) in a vein or artery, they should seek medical attention.
• Women who have had previous miscarriages, particularly during the second and third trimesters, should be advised to seek medical attention.
• If the symptoms are consistent with autoimmune illnesses, the diagnosis is made.
You'll have blood extracted from an arm vein.
No preparation is needed.
• Doctor prescription.
• A valid government ID.
Leave the dressing strip on for 15 minutes. No particular type of care is required.
