What Is Testosterone Test?

Testosterone is a primary male sex hormone. It is an anabolic steroid synthesised from cholesterol in our body. Although it is primarily male sex hormone, it is also found in females but in lesser quantity as compared to males.

It is secreted mainly by the testicles in males and to a lesser extent by the ovaries in females. The adrenal gland also produces some amount of testosterone. After release, 97-99.5% binds with SHBG (sex hormone binding globulin) and albumin in blood and get transported to the target sites where it acts on androgen receptors to perform its functions.
