Varicella Zoster IgA (Chicken Pox) Test Cost & Procedure

 This examination looks for IgG antibodies made against the varicella-zoster virus (VZV). VZV is extremely contagious and can lead to shingles and chickenpox. The virus that causes chickenpox is first encountered, and IgG antibodies made in response to the infection give a person lifetime protection from the illness. A painful rash known as shingles develops after a second encounter with the virus. Shingles exhibit similar symptoms as well.

Varicella zoster virus: What is it?

The varicella-zoster virus (VZV) is the culprit behind shingles and chickenpox. A medical expert will typically use a visual examination to identify chickenpox or shingles. To determine whether a patient is immune to the varicella-zoster virus, a doctor may occasionally request a Varicella IGG test (VZV). A varicella IGG test may be performed on people who are at a higher risk of developing complications from VZV and who do not have immunity or are unsure of it, such as pregnant women, newborns, if the mother is infected, people (teenagers, and adults) with chickenpox symptoms, and people with HIV/AIDS or other immunity-compromising conditions. A common childhood ailment is

chickenpox.

Why is this examination recommended?

• The presence of varicella-zoster virus antibodies is indicated by a positive VZV IgG test result.
• A positive test result, however, could suggest active illness and not immunity because the test cannot differentiate between prior infection and present infection If an existing infection is not suspected based on the patient's history, clinical presentation, and other laboratory results, a positive IgG test is most likely the outcome of a prior infection.

Procedure:

• A blood sample is needed.
• Your arm is punctured with a needle.
• Blood is taken out.

• The Sample is sent for examination.
