An ultrasound is a noninvasive strain-free diagnostic procedure. It’s an imaging process that uses sound waves to detect the body’s function and abnormalities.

Commonly Ultrasound procedures do not require any preparation. Abdominal-pelvic ultrasound scans require 4-6 hour meal break and urinary retention for 1-2 hours before the scan.
A specialized doctor examines the affected area by placing the ultrasound gel and ultrasound head over the skin. They may ask you to be very still or to hold your breath for a few seconds to create clearer pictures. Once the images are obtained, they’ll wipe off any remaining gel on your skin and you’ll be done.
