Chest Ultrasound

Chest ultrasonography, or USG, is used to assess the health of organs and structures within the chest. An ultrasound of the chest is an imaging diagnostic. It uses sound waves to examine the chest's architecture and organs. It can help your doctor determine how well your lungs and heart function.

Why is it done? 

• This test covers the lungs, heart, aorta, trachea, oesophagus, thymus, lymph nodes, and the gaps between the lungs and the chest wall. 

• This examination can also assess blood flow to the chest organs. 

• The USG of the chest determines the type of extra fluid. Exudate is seen in inflammatory, malignant, and infectious situations, while transudate is blood spilt.

How does one prepare for the test? 

No preparation is needed. You should wear loose-fitting clothing.

After care: 

No care is required.
