DRCG Scan

DRCG Scan is a Direct Radionuclide Cystogram Scan. This nuclear medicine scan helps in diagnosing urinary bladder functioning problems. In this procedure, isotope injection is given into the bladder of the patient via the abdominal wall and the gamma camera captures the image of the urinary bladder during the filling up and emptying.

The problems that can be detected with the DRCG scan are anatomical abnormalities, urinary tract infection (UTI), urinary reflux, incomplete emptying of the bladder, etc. It gives detailed information about the status of ongoing treatment of urinary reflux disease and post-kidney transplant condition.

The doctor may give you pre-procedure and post-procedure instructions that you need to follow as a precautionary measure. Before your procedure within the course of 1 or 2 hours, you need to drink several numbers of a glass of water. It takes around 45 to 60mins to completion of the procedure.
