Scrotal Colour Doppler

Scrotal Colour Doppler ultrasound is an imaging test that is used to view the scrotum(the flesh-covered sac that hangs between the legs at the penis base and contains the testicles) It uses sound ways to produce images of the male reproductive organs (testicles) and its surrounding tissues.

Why is it done?

To diagnose testicle disorders
To check the flow of blood in the scrotum.
To determine why one or both testicles have become larger
To look at a lump in one or both of the testicles
To find the cause of testicles' pain
To check the flow of blood through the testicles
To assess the root cause of infertility such as varicocele.

What is the procedure for the Scrotal Colour Doppler?

For the procedure, you need to lie on your back with your legs spread.
Technician drapes a cloth across the thighs under the scrotum and applies wide strips of adhesive tape.
This will raise the scrotal sac slightly with the testicles lying side by side.
Technologist will apply a clear gel to the scrotal sac to transmit the sound waves.
Technologist will move the ultrasound transducer over the scrotum to create a picture.
