Ultrasound Post Void Residual Test

Ultrasound Post Void Residual Test

The ultrasound post-void residual (PVR) residual measurement determines how much urine remains in the bladder after a person has gone to the bathroom.

Bladder ultrasound and Post-Void Residual (PVR) are done on people who have trouble holding their urine (inability to empty the bladder).

A patient with a significant post-void residual urine volume may have a urinary tract infection, renal failure, or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Drugs or diseases like diabetes, multiple sclerosis, or Parkinson's can also cause it.

If you have signs of urine retention, your doctor may suggest a PVR test. There are several causes of urinary retention, including:

 Urinary Tract Blockage

• Side effects of drugs

• Neural bladder

Not completely emptying your bladder might cause symptoms such as

  1. Urination often.
  2.  Bladder stones.
  3. Kidney harm.
  4.  Urinary tract infections (UTI).

The technician will apply gel to your bladder's skin. The technician will run an ultrasound probe over this area and record the results. Your doctor will go over the image and measurements with you.

An Ultrasound Post Void Residual Test is typically performed in a hospital's radiology department or an outpatient imaging facility. So, for the best services and reliable results, schedule your test at Ganesh Diagnostic in Yamuna Vihar.
