CT 3D Left Scaphoid Test

The scaphoid shift test is a provocative manoeuvre used to examine the dynamic stability of the scaphoid and reproduce the symptoms of a patient. It is used to determine the instability of the scapholunate interosseous ligament (SLIL).

CT 3D Left Scaphoid (3-Dimensional Computed Dimension of Left Scaphoid) is a 3-D image of the left scaphoid obtained through an imaging scan. The left scaphoid is a small carpal bone on the thumb side of the left wrist that is important for wrist motion and stability. This scan aids in determining the location of the scaphoid in the left wrist and the presence of a scaphoid fracture.

Doctors order a CT 3D left scaphoid to get a clearer picture of the scaphoid in order to diagnose a scaphoid fracture and to determine whether or not the scaphoid bone is displaced. It is also used when a patient complains of pain and swelling in the anatomic snuffbox and on the thumb side of the left wrist.

CT scans are recommended for all scaphoid waist fractures within the first week of injury to determine whether they are displaced or not.

CT 3D Left Scaphoid is not performed during pregnancy because the radiations may harm the foetus. Women patients must inform the doctor before the scan if they are pregnant or have a chance of becoming pregnant.

Most people who have a scaphoid fracture (also known as a broken wrist) will experience pain and/or swelling along the thumb side of their wrist within a few days of falling. Many people with this injury believe it is a wrist sprain because there is no visible deformity or difficulty moving.

Pregnant women should notify their doctor (and the x-ray technician) because the radiations could harm the foetus. If necessary, precautions can be taken to reduce the fetus's exposure to radiation.

You may be asked to wear a hospital gown during the scan, depending on the area to be imaged.

A CT 3D Left Scaphoid Testis typically performed in a hospital's radiology department or an outpatient imaging facility. So, for the best services and reliable results, schedule your test at Ganesh Diagnostic in Yamuna Vihar.
