Ultrasound Neck Male Test

Neck ultrasound is a type of imaging that is used to see the blood vessels and glands in the neck. It is used to detect irritation in the neck, malignant growth, cysts, or nodules. Doctors also advise checking for thyroid gland, lymph node, or carotid artery abnormalities.

A neck ultrasound can be used to look for nodules, growths, or tumours in the thyroid gland. A neck ultrasound is used to examine the carotid arteries on each side of a patient's neck. The arteries transport blood from the heart to the brain.

This test is done due to following reasons:

  • to determine the structure of the neck's blood vessels and glands.
  • Look for lumps, nodules, cysts, or other abnormal masses in the neck or thyroid gland.
  • To rule out any possible infection or inflammation in the neck and head area.
  • Detection of any malignant tumour in the neck
  • To direct treatments or additional testing, such as biopsy.

The radiologist or sonographer will apply gel to the skin of your neck and gently move a small probe over the area. The gel may feel cold at first, but it quickly warms up. While performing the test, they will view the images on a computer monitor.

The procedure is painless and quick. this procedure is generally well-tolerated, with most patients experiencing either mild pain or no pain during the procedure. There were no patients who experienced excruciating pain.
