CT angiography is a type of medical test that combines a CT scan with a special dye injection to produce images of blood vessels and tissues in a specific area of your body. The dye is injected into your arm or hand via an intravenous (IV) line.

A Hand Angiography is a procedure in which the arteries in the hands are visualised using a special dye.

Doctors recommend this radiology test if you have: -

  • * Stenosis
  • * Blockage of hand vessels
  • * To detect blood clots in vessels

If you are pregnant and have a chance to become pregnant (because radiation harms the baby). If you have an adverse reaction from medicine, especially iodine.

Don’t drink or eat anything after midnight before the scan. You need to bring all the medical reports or any medication you have taken. A minimum of 4-6 hours of fasting is required.

In this examination you need to lie Prone on the exam table and affected hands are placed in the centre of the scanning table and the head can rest on the other arm sides then first plain scans are performed then IV line is inserted in your arm and dye is injected while performing the scan.

After completion of the scan, the IV line is removed. You need to drink so much water after scanning for faster elimination of contrast material.
