3D CT Orbit Test

3D CT Orbit Test

3D CT Orbit is a 3D reconstruction imaging scan used to visualise the bony structure of the orbit and pathology conditions.

It is an imaging method is a computed tomography (CT) scan of the orbit. It makes detailed images of the eye sockets (orbits), eyes, and surrounding bones using x-rays.

You will be asked to lie down on a narrow table that slides into the CT scanner's centre. The CT scanner only contains your head.

You might be permitted to rest your head on a pillow.

Once inside the scanner, the x-ray beam rotates around you, but you will not see the x-ray.

Slices are separate images of the body created by a computer. These images can be saved, viewed on a computer monitor, or printed on film. By stacking the slices together, the computer can create three-dimensional models of the body area.

Because movement causes blurred images, you must lie still during the exam. You may be asked to hold your breath for brief periods of time.

The scan itself takes about 30 seconds. The whole thing takes about 15 minutes.

During the study, you will be asked to remove your jewellery and wear a hospital gown.

You may be asked to refrain from eating or drinking for 4 to 6 hours before the test.

Inform your doctor if you have ever had an allergic reaction to contrast. To receive this substance safely, you may need to take medications prior to the test.

Inform your doctor if you take the diabetes medication metformin (Glucophage). Take extra precautions if necessary.

Inform your doctor if you have poor kidney function. This is due to the fact that the contrast can impair kidney function.

An orbit CT scan can also be used to detect the following:

  • Abscess (infection) of the eye area
  • Broken eye socket bone
  •  Foreign object in the eye socket

A 3D CT Orbit Test is typically performed in a hospital's radiology department or an outpatient imaging facility. So, for the best services and reliable results, schedule your test at Ganesh Diagnostic in Yamuna Vihar.
