What is an X-ray Left Elbow Joint AP & LAT View Test?

The bones of the forearm, the upper arm, and the elbow joint are all contained within the elbow region. In the anterior-posterior (AP) projection, the elbow joint is shown in the natural anatomical position for that joint. The LAT projection is a view of the AP elbow at an angle of 90 degrees. 

Why is it done? 

• To diagnose elbow fractures and monitor their healing.
• It can also diagnose infections, osteoporosis, arthritis, and any shattered bones that may be present in the elbow joint.

How does one prepare for the test? 

No preparation is needed. You should wear loose-fitting clothing.

Notify your technician if you are pregnant as radiation may harm the baby if not disclosed to the Sonography technician.
