Ultrasound Hip Joint Procedure
Hip ultrasonography employs sound waves to create images of the hip's soft tissues, including its muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, and bones. It can be used to screen for developmental hip dysplasia in infants and is used to assist detect problems.
Hip ultrasound pictures are frequently used to assess:
- Muscular anomalies, such as soft-tissue lumps and rips.
- Bleeding, infections, or other fluid accumulations.
- Soft tissue tumors that are benign and cancerous.
- Early arthritis changes.
Precautions
Dress comfortably and loosely. It might be necessary to take off all of your clothes and jewellery from the area being examined.
Procedure
- For this procedure, you will be asked to lie in the prone position( lie flat with the face and chest downwards and back up).
- The technologist will place a little quantity of gel on the skin before using a transducer to softly glide over the area to take real-time pictures of the interior structures.

This procedure has no adverse or negative effects.
