A 2D echocardiogram, also known as 2D echo, is a non-invasive procedure used to evaluate and measure the various parts of your heart. With the aid of sound vibrations, this test produces images of the various cardiac organs. It helps to assess for damage, obstructions, and blood flow rate.

Precautions

No precautions are required before the 2D Echo Test

Procedure for 2D Echo Test

  • A colorless gel is applied by the lab technician, who then moves a transducer over various areas of the chest to measure the sound vibrations.
  • The transducer can more easily see the heart's tissues and structure because of the gel.
  • The gel is cleared following the test.
